Govt to announce lower electricity tariffs soon: Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has stated that the government is preparing to announce a reduction in electricity tariffs soon.

In an interview with Bloomberg on the sidelines of the Boao Forum in China, he mentioned that the government is currently formulating a budget aimed at expanding the tax base by incorporating sectors such as real estate, retail, and agriculture.lower electricity bills

He further revealed that Pakistan is planning to issue its first Chinese Yuan-denominated bond, valued between $200 million and $250 million, to finance climate-related projects. He emphasized the importance of diversifying the country’s funding sources beyond the US, Europe, and Islamic Sukuks.
