Govt Slashes Diesel Prices

Islamabad: The government has slashed the prices of high speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 2 per liter effective from May 16, 2025.
However, the government has maintained the price of petrol for consumers of motorbikes and cars.
The price of high speed diesel has been slashed to Rs 254.64 per liter from Rs 256.64 per liter.
High speed diesel is widely used in agriculture and transport sectors.
Govt May Increase Prices of Diesel and Petrol
Therefore the cut in its price was a healthy sign for the consumers of diesel.
The price of petrol has been maintained at Rs 252.63 per liter.
Petrol is an alternate to CNG for transport sectors especially in Punjab province where indigenous gas was not available for the CNG sectors.
The government is also currently charging higher rates of petroleum levy on petroleum products to collect more revenue.
The finance ministry in a statement said that government had decided to revise the prices of petroleum products effective from May 16 keeping in view the recommendations of oil and gas regulatory authority (Ogra).
