Former JUI-F Minister Held in Quetta on Harassment Charges

Balochistan police have arrested former JUI-F provincial minister Maulvi Ghulam Sarwar Musakhail after a confrontation with Communications Secretary Lal Jan Jafar spiraled into accusations of harassment, assault, and intimidation.

According to the FIR filed at Civil Line Police Station, the incident occurred at Jafar’s office in Quetta’s Civil Secretariat. Sarwar allegedly ordered Jafar’s personal secretary to leave the room before demanding “settlement of accounts” over political disputes.

“When I resisted, he became aggressive, hurled abuses, and threatened my family,” Jafar claimed. Alarmed, he called his secretary back into the room, prompting Sarwar to leave while shouting threats.

The matter did not end there. Hours later, Jafar said he received a message from his family reporting that several men—believed to be Sarwar’s supporters—visited his home, threatened his relatives, and left menacing graffiti on the front door.

Authorities confirmed Sarwar’s arrest and said the FIRs include charges of harassment, intimidation, and attempted assault. “The law will take its course, and no one is above it,” a senior police officer stated.

Both Sarwar and Jafar belong to the same district, and political insiders say the rivalry between their camps over development projects has intensified in recent years.

Police officials also noted that Sarwar has a documented history of misconduct with government staff. The case has sparked debate in political circles, with many calling for stricter accountability of public representatives.
