Federal Secretary Railways Inspects Flood Damage

Quetta: The Federal Secretary/Chairman Railways, Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, conducted an on-site inspection of the flood-affected railway tracks between Quetta and Chaman today. During the visit, Secretary Railways emphasized the importance of expediting recovery efforts to fully restore rail services and protect critical infrastructure.

A key focus of the inspection was the 3.92 km long Khojak Tunnel, a national monument ans vital transport artery. Secretary Railways directed the divisional administration to prioritize the tunnel’s protection and undertake necessary works to prevent damage. This move ensures the preservation of Pakistan’s cultural and historical heritage, while also maintaining uninterrupted rail services.

Additionally, Secretary Railways also visited the ITTMS border facility at Chaman, where he instructed the railway authorities to ensure seamless integration of the railway line with the facility making it a multimodal as planned. This integration aims to enhance operational efficiency, facilitate trade, and strengthen regional connectivity.

The Federal Secretary’s visit demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges and promoting economic growth through efficient transportation networks. By prioritizing the recovery and protection of critical rail infrastructure, Pakistan Railways aims to minimize disruptions and provide reliable services to its passengers and freight customers.
