This initiative plays a crucial role in Pakistan’s energy infrastructure, aiming to enhance the stability and efficiency of the national transmission network. The project seeks to improve voltage regulation, enable smooth electricity transmission from the northern to southern regions, and support the integration of large-scale renewable energy sources. Several key aspects of the project were deliberated upon during the meeting.
The Federal Minister highlighted that, regardless of the chosen procurement framework, the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) must maintain control over the transmission network and operations. Additionally, tariff structures will be regulated by NEPRA to ensure the project’s long-term viability.
He further stressed that, despite the project’s significant advantages, its successful execution hinges on resolving the “right of way” issue. Without addressing this challenge, effective implementation will not be feasible.
