CDA reviews Islamabad’s monsoon emergency readiness

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) held a review meeting in Islamabad under the chairmanship of CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa to assess emergency preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season. The session was attended by CDA Member Admin and Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Capital Emergency Services Director General Dr. Abdul Rehman, and other senior officials.

Training with Chinese experts

Briefing the meeting, Dr. Abdul Rehman said capacity-building training for emergency staff will begin on August 26 under the supervision of eight Chinese experts. The program will focus on modern methods of swift water rescue and the use of advanced technology to strengthen response to monsoon-related emergencies.

Upgrading emergency response

Officials informed that comprehensive planning is underway to modernize Islamabad’s emergency services. Efforts include the installation of new equipment and training initiatives to enhance staff capabilities, ensuring better preparedness for floods and heavy rainfall.

Chairman’s directives

Chairman Randhawa appreciated the performance of Capital Emergency Services staff and instructed that emergency teams be pre-positioned at vulnerable points across the city. He directed all departments to keep equipment and resources ready in advance and ensure staff availability to minimize disruption for citizens during downpours.
