ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese company CCDC to explore the potential for shale and tight gas in Pakistan.

The signing ceremony took place in Xian, Shaanxi province, China, during the 8th Silk Road International Expo for Investment and Trade Forum, with Minister for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik in attendance.

Facilitation of SIFC leading to development of petroleum sector

This MoU highlights the commitment of both nations to develop Pakistan’s shale and tight gas resources, aiming to meet the country’s energy requirements through local resources.

The Federal Minister expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for hosting Pakistan as the Country of Honor and expressed hope that the collaboration between the two nations will continue to strengthen across all areas of the energy sector for the mutual benefit of both countries.
