PM Forms Committee on Cashless Economy

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a committee amid a strong criticism against imposition of taxes on digital plate forms aimed at presenting an action plan for cashless economy and digitization of the economy.

The government has faced a strong criticism over proposed taxes on ecommerce plate forms and other digital outlets.

The premier has formed a committee to review the measures on weekly basis under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

Prime minister directed that digitization of the economy is among the top priorities of the government’s reforms, adding digital payments and digital transfer of funds should be encouraged through policy measures.

Prime minister said that government had proposed measures in the federal budget to promote cashless economy, adding that government is taking steps to eliminate the informal economy and transfer cashless purchases and funds for transparency.

The government had also ensured the transfer of funds to the beneficiaries during Ramadan.

The government had also ensured the transfer of funds from the digital wallet to the beneficiaries in a transparent, effective and efficient manner.

The transfer of funds from the digital wallet is top priority of the government.
