Beaconhouse National University Launches CCES Initiative to Combat Climate Change

Lahore: Beaconhouse National University (BNU) has unveiled the “CCES Go Green Campaign,” an initiative aimed at fostering environmental sustainability in Pakistan. As a renowned institution for arts and education, BNU has taken a significant step toward combating environmental challenges through this campaign. The program aspires to inspire action by organizing activities such as campus-wide seed planting, tree plantation drives, and engaging events like pot painting, scavenger hunts, and awareness marches. These efforts emphasize actionable solutions to address Pakistan’s climate issues.

The launch ceremony, hosted at the university’s Main Ground, brought together students, faculty members, environmental advocates, and community leaders, all united in their dedication to creating a greener future. During her address at the event, Ms. Warda Shah underscored the critical importance of environmental action:

“Pakistan is at the forefront of the global climate crisis. As an academic institution, it is our duty to pioneer sustainable initiatives. The Clean & Green Initiative is more than just a campaign—it is a call to collective action and a platform for transformative change.”

The initiative features several impactful components, including:

  • Tree Plantation Drives: Aiming to plant a significant number of trees across the campus over the next six months.
  • Waste Reduction Campaigns: Encouraging recycling efforts, curbing single-use plastics, and promoting sustainability within local communities.
  • Awareness Workshops: Educating students and the community on eco-friendly practices.
  • Community Collaboration: Partnering with local authorities and NGOs to amplify the initiative’s reach.
  • Interactive Activities: Hosting creative and engaging events like pot painting and scavenger hunts to involve participants.

A participating student expressed their excitement about the program:
