Aleema Khan Egged Amid Toshakhana Hearing

A protest outside Adiala Jail turned violent on Friday after an egg was thrown at Aleema Khan, prompting PTI workers to physically attack two young women accused of the act.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene in Rawalpindi’s Dahgal area, where Aleema Khan was addressing media after the Toshakhana II hearing. As she spoke, an egg was hurled and struck her, causing immediate disorder.

Within moments, PTI workers launched a retaliatory assault on the two women alleged to be behind the act. Bystanders reported punches, shoving, and verbal abuse. The attackers also vandalized the women’s vehicle, shattering its windows in anger.

Security officials rushed to the scene and took the women into custody. Both were moved to Adiala Chowki for questioning. Initial reports suggest the women had traveled from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to join a protest linked to provincial employee grievances.

According to police, tensions rose when the women felt ignored by Aleema Khan and responded with the egg attack. However, their exact motives remain under investigation.

The violent reaction by PTI supporters has drawn strong criticism. Human rights groups have condemned the use of mob justice, calling for an impartial inquiry.

Despite being targeted, Aleema Khan responded with calm. “These tactics won’t intimidate us,” she said. PTI leadership, while condemning the attack, remained silent on the violence by its own supporters.
