Aishwarya Rai Latest to Challenge Deepfake Threats

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has become the latest Bollywood celebrity to launch legal action against artificial intelligence platforms for unauthorized use of her voice and image. The move reflects growing unease in India’s film industry over the rise of deepfake technology.

In her petition to the Delhi High Court, Rai accused AI platforms of generating explicit and inappropriate content using her likeness, saying it amounted to character assassination. She also flagged e-commerce sites that were misusing her name and voice to market products without approval.

The actress submitted a list of fake and fraudulent websites, requesting strict court orders to prevent such misuse. While she has not sought damages, she has urged the judiciary to act before the problem escalates further.

Her action follows similar petitions from other Bollywood stars, many of whom have become victims of deepfake abuse. Industry insiders say the rapid spread of AI-generated content threatens not only personal reputations but also intellectual property rights.

The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the accused parties, calling for arguments in November. Hearings are expected to begin in January 2026.
