Over 200 Feeders Reconnected Nationwide After Floods

The Power Division has reported steady progress in restoring electricity to flood-affected areas across Pakistan, with field teams working around the clock to repair damaged infrastructure. By 8am on Thursday, August 28, significant advances were recorded in multiple regions, according to the division’s latest update.

In Faisalabad Electric Supply Company’s (Fesco) network, 30 feeders had gone offline due to the floods, including 14 in Chiniot, nine in Jhang, five in Sargodha, and one each in Mianwali and Dera Ismail Khan. All have now been temporarily restored, while complete recovery is expected between 9pm and midnight.

In Gujranwala’s Gepco region, seven grid stations and 54 feeders were impacted. Restoration efforts have already revived 42 feeders fully and two partially, covering key areas such as Sialkot, Narowal, Wazirabad, and Hafizabad. Officials expect the remaining feeders to be back online later in the day.

Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) reported partial restoration of 17 affected feeders, including one in Lahore, eight in Kasur, and eight in Okara. Teams are waiting for floodwater to recede before completing work.

Multan’s Mepco areas were hardest hit, with 50 feeders down across multiple districts including Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu, and Multan. Officials said restoration would begin immediately once flood levels dropped.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) faced 12 grid stations and 91 feeders affected. So far, 71 feeders have been fully restored and 19 partially, while full recovery may take up to a week in some areas.

Meanwhile, Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) confirmed that two feeders in North Waziristan had been restored. The Power Division stressed that all teams remain on high alert and pledged to restore full supply as quickly as possible.
