PM Shehbaz vows to eradicate Hepatitis-C from Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated his strong resolve to eradicate Hepatitis-C from Pakistan.

Speaking at an event in Islamabad marking the successful completion of the National Hepatitis-C Elimination Program’s pilot project in Gilgit-Baltistan, he stressed the urgency of taking decisive action to control the disease.

The Prime Minister commended the efforts of those involved in the pilot project and expressed confidence that this initiative would pave the way for the disease’s eradication from the region. Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted the rapid progress of the Jinnah Medical Center, currently under development in the federal capital, stating that its planning phase has been successfully completed.

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal described the National Hepatitis-C Elimination Program as a landmark initiative in the health sector. He expressed optimism that the disease would be eradicated before the current government’s tenure concludes. Additionally, he stressed that public awareness is a crucial pillar of the initiative and expressed hope that, with collective efforts, the program would serve as a successful model.

Meanwhile, Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal reaffirmed his commitment to meeting the Prime Minister’s expectations in addressing key health challenges across the country.
