ACF Animal Rescue Offers Safe Haven for Rescued Exotic Monkeys
KARACHI: In a harrowing case of wildlife trafficking, Pakistan Customs recently intercepted a group of exotic monkeys who had endured unimaginable suffering during their illegal transport. Upon rescue, these terrified animals were found in a severely traumatized state—their eyes bulging with fear, their bodies weakened by starvation, and their screams echoing the distress of days spent confined in coffin-like boxes without daylight, food, or water.
ACF Animal Rescue, renowned for its dedication to animal well-being, swiftly took action to offer immediate assistance to these monkeys, providing them with urgent care and a secure environment. Temporary enclosures were quickly constructed overnight to ensure their safety and comfort while efforts continue on a more extensive, permanent sanctuary. The new facility, still under development, will offer the monkeys the space and mental stimulation they urgently need, with features like jungle gyms, fallen tree trunks, and other natural elements designed to restore their physical and psychological health.
Meanwhile, the monkeys have been given cozy blankets, plush toys for comfort, and an abundance of nourishing food. ACF is also in constant communication with well-known wildlife sanctuaries around the world to identify the most suitable long-term home for them—one that closely mirrors their natural surroundings. Due to the complex nature of the rehoming process, which involves substantial paperwork and significant costs, ACF is working tirelessly to ensure a seamless transition. The monkeys will need to undergo a mandatory four-month quarantine before being relocated, making their current rehabilitation even more vital.New Trade and SPS Harmonization Efforts Set to Elevate Pakistan’s Agricultural Trade, Chairman PARC.
“Our mission is to provide these monkeys with a second chance at life in an environment where they can recover and flourish,” said Ayesha Chundrigar, Founder of ACF Animal Rescue. “The trauma they’ve endured has been unfathomable, but we are fully committed to ensuring they never face such cruelty again.”
ACF Animal Rescue is calling on wildlife conservation groups, donors, and animal enthusiasts to lend their support to this critical mission. Those interested in contributing to the care and relocation of these monkeys can contact ACF for more details on how they can help.
