The discussion focused on the role of the agricultural commodities market and the collaboration between the SECP and the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. This partnership aims to provide a series of capacity-building training sessions on the development, regulation, and oversight of commodities futures markets, contributing to a well-functioning commodities market in Pakistan.
The Finance Minister highlighted that while Pakistan’s economy grew by 2.38 percent this fiscal year, agriculture played a significant role, achieving a notable growth rate of 6.25 percent due to double-digit increases in major crop outputs.
He further noted that both agriculture and IT in Pakistan are primarily influenced by domestic factors. Healthy and consistent growth in these sectors is seen as a positive indicator and a stabilizing force, given their potential impact on the national economy through exports.
