Pak-US ties based on shared values, common ideals: Envoy
ISLAMABAD: Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, emphasized the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and the United States, which is based on shared values, mutual respect, and common ideals.
He made these comments during an investiture ceremony in Washington D.C., where Congressman Alexander N. Green was awarded the Sitara-i-Khidmat for his exceptional contributions to strengthening Pakistan-U.S. relations and his efforts in combating Islamophobia.
In his speech, the Ambassador highlighted the extensive collaboration between the two nations over more than seven decades, including efforts to promote peace, advance economic development, and tackle global challenges.
He recalled Congressman Al Green’s visit to Pakistan during the catastrophic floods of 2022, noting that Representative Green not only showed solidarity with the people of Pakistan during their crisis but also advocated passionately for timely aid upon returning to the U.S. Congress.
Ambassador Sheikh also praised Congressman Green for his significant contributions to combating terrorism in the region and his support for critical legislative measures like the Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement Act of 2009.
Congressman Green expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani government and people for the honor. Reflecting on the long-standing cooperation between the two nations, he reiterated his commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties. He fondly remembered his experiences with Pakistani society and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relations between the people of Pakistan and the United States.
