Pakistan attaches great respect to ties with Turkiye: Info Minister
ISLAMABAD: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, currently visiting Turkiye, toured the headquarters of the Turkish state television channel, TRT World.
During his visit, he met with Omer Faruk Tanriverdi, the Director General of International Broadcast at TRT World. The two discussed collaboration in the media sector between Pakistan and Turkiye, the production of joint documentary films, tourism promotion, and other areas of shared interest.
Speaking on the occasion, Attaullah Tarar highlighted Pakistan’s deep respect for its fraternal relationship with Turkiye, emphasizing that the bond between the two countries is rooted in shared history, religious values, and cultural traditions.Pakistan wants peaceful, prosperous Afghanistan: FO
The Minister mentioned that agreements for the co-production of dramas and documentaries with the Turkish government are a crucial part of Pakistan’s strategic partnership framework. He added that both nations are rich in talent, offering significant potential for collaboration.
Attaullah Tarar specifically praised Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem, who set a remarkable record with a javelin throw of 92.97 meters during the Summer Olympics. He suggested that Arshad Nadeem’s inspiring journey could be the subject of a documentary.
The discussions also included the Shandur Polo Festival in Pakistan. The Minister pointed out that this event not only promotes tourism and culture but also fosters sports. He noted that the Shandur Polo Festival is held at the world’s highest-altitude polo ground and proposed producing a documentary on the festival in partnership with PTV World for global broadcast.
He also proposed co-broadcasting opportunities, such as airing TRT World’s transmission on Pakistan Television.
Attaullah Tarar highlighted the cultural and religious commonalities between Pakistan and Turkiye as key factors behind the popularity of Turkish dramas and documentaries in Pakistan.
Additionally, the Kashmir issue was discussed, with a focus on highlighting the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The Minister emphasized the importance of creating a digital documentary to shed light on the human rights violations and atrocities in IIOJK.
