PM represents Pakistan at Climate Action Summit in Baku

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is representing Pakistan at the Climate Action Summit during COP-29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.PM Shehbaz meets Saudi Minister to discuss economic ties.

The Prime Minister is set to lead a Climate Finance Roundtable Conference, which will be attended by several global leaders.

He will emphasize the challenges faced by developing nations, particularly Pakistan, which contributes minimally to the emission of harmful greenhouse gases but is significantly impacted by the devastating effects of climate change.

The Prime Minister will also take part in a high-level session titled “Glaciers 2025: Actions for Glaciers,” organized by the President of Tajikistan, aimed at safeguarding glaciers.

Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of Denmark and the Czech Republic, who are also participating in COP-29.

These discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, as well as highlighting the climate change risks that Pakistan faces.
